Time is precious. It’s cliché I know. But it’s true.
We spend most of days at work and our ‘free time’ isn’t really ‘free time’ – we have so many responsitibilities: laundry, cleaning, mowing the lawn, dishes, groceries to name just a few. I decided a while ago that when I have ‘true free time’ (time outside of my area of responsibility) I want to spend it with people I want in my life, and doing things that make me happy.
That’s exactly what I have been doing this summer. I’ve gone to weddings I want to go to, barbeques where there are people I want to catch up with, and long weekends away with the love of my life. I don’t think I have ever been any happier. I feel so much more relaxed. I feel like it’s made me more productive at work and made my workouts so much more effective.
I hope that I can always make decisions like this, but sometimes it’s so hard to pushback and say no when inside you really just don’t want to spend your time in that way. I feel like there will come a time (in the near future!) where I just have to do what I have to do. However, it’s been great being able to make decisions that I’m 100% happy with all summer long. I’m going to enjoy this ride while it lasts.
How do you make decisions on where to spend your ‘true free time’ – do you always do what makes you happy? Or do you find you are constantly spending time with people you don’t want to spend time with?
