Journey to the best health of my life (yes, the journey includes olives)

3lbs closer to my goal!

So I just had to take my weight today because I wanted to see the impact of my week away – and I was happy to see that I’m down 3lbs from my last weigh in!  Woo hoo! 😀

My weight – January 19, 2014

While I was away I was pretty much a slave to whatever I was given. There were healthy choices so I tried to pick them. However, as you may have read in my last post, I did have a lot of (very yummy) tacos.  On top of that, I took a few flights and did lots of travelling in a bus.  That leads me to ask myself – how come I lost weight?  Well, I was very relaxed and I was out working in the sun most days.  I’m sure that no stress and sunshine had a positive impact on my health overall.

The challenge for me is to incorporate less stress (and sunshine when possible!) into my daily life.  As part of the STMC challenge I’m starting yoga on a daily basis.  This will help with my stress levels.  I’m also sure that working out regularly again will help my stress (and of course being active is great!).  I feel so good after and sleep much better.  Sleep is so important for me!  I find that if I don’t get regular sleep it throws me completely.

On that note, I’m off to start my yoga challenge!

I’m a 30-something female who’s striving to be the healthiest woman I can be through diet and exercise. In early 2013 I was introduced to the world of Paleo. I completed Whole30 and had fantastic results. I had finally found something that worked for me! My blog is a jumble of my thoughts as I take the journey through my life. Somewhere for me to unleash my views, my challenges, my failures and my successes (hopefully!).

  1. YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!! This is beyond AMAZING! Your trip gave you everything that you wanted and then some. I love that you are using that momentum and keeping up with the things that helped you throughout your trip — no stress. Let us know what you think of your yoga classes. I hope it goes well! 🙂

    • Thanks! Yes – totally using everything I can 🙂

I’m actually practicing yoga at home. I used to do it regularly so i’m getting back into it. I’ll definitely keep you all updated!

      • Ohh, okay. That’s still awesome. I tried to do yoga once at home and it ended disastrously. LOL! I’ve put it on my list of things not to attempt again until I’ve gotten to down to a less hazardous weight. Then again, I am accident prone, so that may never happen, but I’ll try. 🙂

      • Lol! Well, I hope you do try again – and maybe just start with the less strenuous stuff 🙂

      • Yeah, that’s me trying to be the overachiever that I am. *sigh*…

I always yap about not doing more than you can, that bit of advice didn’t just come to me. I had to learn that the hard way. Lol!

      • Lol! Well, learning the hard way is still learning 🙂

  2. You sound on fire…. well done! I’m dying to know how Yoga is going because I’ve always wanted to do it but never had the courage… please post about it because I envy the suppleness of my friends who do it… 🙂

    • Thanks.

I definitely will blog about the yoga. I’m starting of slow. Just doing breathing exercises right now and working my way up to 10 mins a day where I’ll be including movements. The great thing about yoga is that everyone can do it – no matter what level you are at. I encourage you to try it.

I used to be a lot more flexible and didn’t have this hard a time sitting on the floor – but I know I will be much better at this by May 1!

  3. Loved this post Foxy – and your blog. Congrats on 3 pounds! That’s awesome. I’ll definately be following along to gain inspiration and motivation. I loved yoga when I did it but haven’t done it in a while. But really should – stress is a major energy zap for me and I admit I don’t do much but wallow to deal with it. Do you follow a DVD at home or just your own routine? p.s. – so totally agree about olive oil.

    • Thanks 🙂

I don’t follow a DVD for yoga. I’ve done a lot of classes in the past so just do my own thing right now. Though, down the line I think I might start going to a yoga class. I would definitely recommend a class (or DVD) for those that haven’t done it before (or haven’t done it much) as it’s all about technique. You wouldn’t be getting the full benefits of yoga without the right techniques. You should do it again – I’m sure you’d feel great 🙂

  4. Good job!!! My first weigh in was a little disappointing but I am definitely happy for you!

    • Thanks 🙂 Honestly, I try not to focus on the scale too much because sometimes it is disappointing. However, if we feel good and are doing the right things for our body then we should keep doing that and results will follow. So, don’t worry about the weigh in and just keep doing what you know is right!

  5. Congrats on the 3lbs! Losing weight, while having fun and no stress is outstanding. Great job!
