Journey to the best health of my life (yes, the journey includes olives)

Healing my soul

I’m back from my trip.  It was an enriching week.  I was part of a team that built homes for 2 families.  We had a chance to connect with the families.  It was heartwarming to see the joy on their faces.  It’s an experience that I will never forget, an experience that has changed me in ways I can’t articulate.  It was outside my comfort zone, but I’m so glad I did it.

Pushing our limits and doing things outside our comfort zone improve us.  I’m not at optimal health.  Doing this project with the charity did so much for my internal health – it healed my soul.  A healed soul is great for health!

This trip was part of my journey as a person, but also a part of my health journey.  I feel so focused and I plan on maximizing my focused outlook.  I will succeed at the STMC challenge!

I’m a 30-something female who’s striving to be the healthiest woman I can be through diet and exercise. In early 2013 I was introduced to the world of Paleo. I completed Whole30 and had fantastic results. I had finally found something that worked for me! My blog is a jumble of my thoughts as I take the journey through my life. Somewhere for me to unleash my views, my challenges, my failures and my successes (hopefully!).

  2. I’ve been thinking I’m missing something. Volunteering or giving back may be it. I haven’t given back in a while. Sounds like it worked to get your spark going again.
I looked up the Whole30- you go girl- if you can do that! Wow, I’m not ready for THAT yet, I’m still whining about my deserts. I hope I get there. Sounds like you are well on your way. Keep going! I’m rooting for you!

    • It really did help me. I got a lot more back than I gave. The families couldn’t understand this concept – we built them a home, but they gave us so much more. Knowing that I have been able to make someone else’s life better, and seeing the simple joy on their faces is something that tears me up every time I think about it. I’m going to make a conscious effort to volunteer at home.

Until I did Whole 30 the first time I didn’t think I could do it – I tried one day at a time and figured if I made it to day 30 then that would be a bonus. Before I knew it I was at day 30! If you ever feel like you would like to try it then I would be happy to help in any way I can 🙂 Until then, stay focused on your plan. Everyone is different and you might find something else that works for you!
